October 2022 Release (Version 23.0)
issue with the Font Sync in Premiere Pro on macOS Ventura 13
Issue: The MOGRT gets applied, but the font never syncs because Creative Cloud login items were disabled, and Premiere Pro did not enable Core Sync items at the app launch.
Workaround: Open the Creative Cloud Desktop app, then go back into Premiere Pro and let the font sync.
For more details, see Fix login item issues for Adobe Creative Cloud on macOS Ventura.
Issue with imported AAF files with multitrack audio on Apple silicon
Result: While on Apple silicon, importing an AAF file with multi-channel audio, represented as multi-mono audio, will stutter during playback.
Expected: The file instance imported via AAF should play as well as the file instance that was directly imported.
Workaround: Use PPro Win or PPro on Mac Intel.
June 2022 Release (Version 22.5)
Issue with sending clips to Audition
If you try to open an audio/video clip or sequence in Audition (Edit > Edit in Adobe Audition > Sequence), a warning dialog appears asking you to install the latest version of Audition (even if you are using the latest version).
To work around this issue, clickOK in the warning dialog and it works correctly. Opening the .prproj in Au via native import (File > Import) also works correctly.
Premiere Pro is unable to publish videos directly to Facebook.
The login to Facebook may fail. Even if the login is successful, the upload will be rejected by Facebook. As a workaround, media should be exported to the local computer and then uploaded via the Facebook website.
April 2022 Release (Version 22.3)
Premiere Pro stops playback at around 34:46(Fixed in v22.3.1)
For some users, playback or rendering may stop around 00:34:46:00 in the timeline. After this happens, audio and video will no longer play back anywhere in the timeline. Exports in Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder also hang at about the same point.
This issue occurs in the following scenarios:
- Audio present in the timeline
- Audio present on two or more tracks
- Timeline longer than 34:46
This issue is fixed in Premiere Pro version 22.3.1.
Rendering issues
In Premiere Pro or Media Encoder on M1 Pro, M1 Max and M1 Ultra systems, the following errors can result when rendering to ProRes 4444 and ProRes 4444XQ codec variants with Alpha channel.
The temporary workaround for this issue in the 22.3 release is to disable ProRes Hardware encoding using theMedia preferences dialog (Preferences > Media).
- Deselect the Enable ProRes hardware-accelerated encoding, if available option. It is checked by default.
- Select OK and retry render.
December 2021 Release (Version 22.1.1)
Plug-in compatibility issues
Premiere Pro 22.1.1 introduced a bug that impacts third party After Effects plug-ins that work in Premiere Pro, such as those from BorisFX, Red Giant, Digital Anarchy, and other vendors. The bug impacts plug-in functions that request a frame from Premiere Pro, such as a thumbnail image.
For more information on affected plug-ins and workarounds, see this community post.
Out of memory errors on M1 Macs
If Premiere Pro or Adobe Media Encoder is experiencing out-of-memory errors on M1-based Macs, adjusting the amount of memory allocated to Adobe applications may help decrease or eliminate the occurrence of these errors. You can try increasing the amount of memory that the operating system uses to achieve a 50% balance between Adobe and other applications/OS.
To work around this issue:
In the memory allocation area in the Memory preferences dialog (Preferences > Memory), it shows the amount of RAM available to Adobe and other applications.
- Change the value listed for other applications to represent 50% of the total installed RAM.
- Restart Adobe application to activate new memory allocation.
October 2021 Release (Version 22.0)
Important After Effects update for Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder users
After Effects 22.0.1 includes fixes for issues in Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder.
Issue:Premiere Pro 22.0 and Adobe Media Encoder 22.0 could become unresponsive when using After Effects 22.0 compositions via Dynamic Link.
Solution: Update to After Effects 22.0.1.
Hang when using After Effects 22.0 compositions in Premiere Pro 22.0 or Adobe Media Encoder 22.0.
This issue occurs when:
- Importing or working with After Effects compositions via Dynamic Link in Premiere Pro
- Using Motion Graphics templates (MOGRTs) created in After Effects. Premiere Pro may become unresponsive while loading a MOGRT.
A fix for this issue is available now in After Effects 22.0.1.
PREMIERE PRO HANGS ON LAUNCH ON macOS SYSTEMS
Follow the steps in this knowledge base article.
H.264 422 MEDIA WILL DROP FRAMES WITH DEFAULT HALF-RESOLUTION PLAYBACK
This is a capture format used with cameras such as the Sony A7siii, and others. This issue typically occurs when playback resolution is set to half.
To avoid this issue, switch to full resolution OR enable High-Quality Playback using the wrench menu in the Program Monitor. If you need half-resolution playback only, download the latest Beta versions of Premiere Pro and After Effects, which have the fix for this issue.
We will include this fix in the release versions soon. In the interim, consider these workarounds:
-
Set playback resolution to full and enable high-quality playback from the program monitor wrench menu.
-
If needed, revert to Premiere Pro 15.4.1.
-
Use the current public Betas of Premiere Pro and After Effects.
Hang when using After Effects MOGRTs in Premiere Pro.
Premiere Pro 22.0 hangs or freezes when using Motion Graphics Template (MOGRTs) that were created in After Effects. The MOGRT often gets stuck at 15% while loading and cause the application to become unresponsive. A fix for this issue is available now in the Premiere Pro (Beta). We will bring the fix into the release version soon. In the interim, consider these workarounds:
-
Avoid using MOGRTs created in After Effects.
-
Revert to Premiere Pro 15.4.1 and After Effects 18.4.1.
-
Use the current public Betas of Premiere Pro and After Effects.
After Effects MOGRTs that use Lumetri parameters fail to render in Premiere Pro.
MOGRTs created in previous versions of After Effects that use Lumetri will fail to apply the Lumetri adjustments. You can see the Lumetri parameters for the MOGRTs in the Essential Graphics panel, but adjusting them has no effect.
Workarounds:
-
Recreate the MOGRT in the current release of After Effects and reimport into the current version of Premiere Pro.
-
Avoid using the Lumetri effect in MOGRTs.
-
Revert to Premiere Pro 15.4.1 and After Effects 18.4.1.
May 2021 Release (Version 15.2)
- Preview glitches or crashes can occur when using Premiere Pro 15.2 or After Effects 18.2 on systems with Nvidia drivers if you have enabledImage Sharpening oranti-aliasing - FXAA in Nvidia Control Panels. For more information and a resolution to this issue, see Preview glitch or crash after resizing Preview panels.
- Issue:The Lumetri Scopes shift to a dimmed UI after bringing its tabbed panel forward in a panel grouping. This happens when the Display Color Management preference is enabled and the Windows Display Setting option of Use HDR is set to On.
Workaround: click a video thumbnail in the Project Panel or Media Browser. Or toggle on and off the Comparison View in the Program Monitor. This makes the Lumetri Scopes UI update to the expected brightness level and it remains at that brightness until its panel is moved behind another panel. Undocking the Lumetri Panel can also prevent it from shifting back to the dimmed state. - Issue:If you are running Premiere Pro 15.2 on a Windows laptop with an NVIDIA GPU device and you have NVIDIA drivers which are out of date, you might experience instability during application launch or during your editing workflow.
Resolution: Update the NVIDIA drivers on your system to the latest ones for your system. For more information, see Crash in Premiere Pro 15.2 and After Effects 18.2 on Windows laptops with older NVIDIA graphics card drivers.
December 2020 Release (Version 14.7)
- Labels missing in Project panel.
- Marquee selection does not select all the clips until the marquee touches the top of the track.
November 2020 Release (Version 14.6)
Undocked panels cause keyboard shortcuts to stop working. Update to the latest version of Premiere Pro to get the fix for this issue.
October 2020 Release (Version 14.5)
- Issue: Unable to use assets in Creative Cloud Libraries on launching Premiere Pro.
Workaround: Follow the steps in this article to work around this issue. - Issue: Keyboard shortcuts and drag-and-drop functionality may not work if the panels are undocked, or if the workspace is split across multiple monitors.
Workaround: Dock panel or reset workspaces. For more information, see this community forum post. - Issue: Unable to launch Premiere Pro if Trend Micro Internet Security is running on Windows 10 operating systems.
Workaround: Follow these steps to work around this issue:- Open trend micro, and click device.
- Click Configure in security settings.
- Click the exception list.
- Press + Add.
- From the popup box, go to This PC > C: > program files > Adobe > premiere pro 2020 >premiere pro 2020.exe.

No warning dialog for unlicensed Stock Audio in Adobe Media Encoder.
July 2020 release (14.3.1)
- Issue: Premiere Pro displays preview artifacts on Program monitor when using Lumetri onsystems using NVIDIA GPUs with newer Studio/Game Ready drivers. The issue has been reported on multiple GPUsandGTX 1080 Ti running on latestGame Ready driver 451.48.
Workaround: Upgrade to the NVIDIA studio driver v451.77.
- Issue:Premiere Pro displays green horizontal lines in the Program monitorwith Intel drivers 8280 and 8336.
Workaround: Roll back to the older Intel drivers.
June 2020 release (14.3)
Issue:There is unpredictable behavior with Adobe Stock media contained in shared Creative Cloud Libraries. Stock media that has been licensed and shared by a collaborator may not appear as licensed to fellow collaborators, it may appear as media offline, or it may not appear at all in the shared library or sequence when other collaborators open the project and the shared library.
Workaround: Try closing and opening the project, or closing and relaunching Premiere Pro.
April 2020 release (14.1)
Low-level exception errors in the following areas with GPU-rendering enabled:
- Auto Reframe: Errors occur when using the nested clip option. Auto reframe works fine, so you can simply ignore these errors.
- Legacy Title:To workaround this issue, make sure you use software rendering inFile >Project Settings >General.
February 2020 release (version 14.0.3)
- From Premiere Pro v 13.1.5 onwards, in rare instances, users are unable to open the Finder when using File Import. This issue is due to Calatina-specific behavior when macOS default security settings have been altered. Please contact tech support for assistance.
- Issue: On launch, Premiere Pro is blocked by trend micro on Windows 10.
Workaround: To fix this issue, do the following:
1. Open trend micro and click Device.
2. In the security settings, click Configure.
3. Click Exception list.
4. Press +add.
5. From the popup box, go to This PC > C: > program files > Adobe > premiere pro 2020 >premiere pro 2020.exe.
November 2019 (version 14.0) release
- Issue: Premiere Pro takes a long time to import screen recorded files (OBS files).
Workaround:Try transcoding the files using a third party app and then import the transcoded files in Premiere Pro. - Issue: Learning panel can display upper half of workspace as black.
Workaround: Revert to a saved layout.
- Issue: When trying to edit text in essential graphics, certain Japanese fonts change to Chinese fonts.
Workaround: Switch to Japanese font manually. - Issue: Remote desktop access of Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder with Windows 10 version 1903 can hang when focus is changed.
Workaround: A) Do not use remote desktop OR B) set Remote Desktop Audio preference to "no audio". This option results in no audio being heard through the Remote Desktop. - Issue: Premiere Pro may fail to import or show an importer error on some Windows 10 (build 1809) configurations.
Workaround: Close and restart the Premiere Pro application. Upgrade to Windows 10 (build 1903) or later. For more information, see Premiere Pro fails to import on certain Windows 10 configurations. - Issue: Incorrect default position for project panel in 14.0, it opens as a small box in upper left corner of Premiere Pro.
Workaround: Use "reset to saved layout", which places the panel correctly. Then to persist the layout, save the project. - Issue: AJA desktop preview is not drawing properly during capture after updating to Premiere Pro 14.0.
Workaround: Make sure you update to the latest AJA driver. - Issue:EDLs created in previous versions of Premiere Pro have incorrect audio levels when those EDLs are imported into Premiere Pro 14.0. EDLs created in Premiere Pro 14.0 are also incorrect.
Workaround: Use an earlier version of Premiere Pro for import and export of EDLs. - Issue: Output to second monitor when Disable video output when in the background is unchecked on macOS
Workaround:
1. Turn off the second display in the playback preferences, click Ok.
2. Reopen Playback Preferences and turn the second display back on and click Ok.
Or move the main Premiere Pro window to partially be on the second screen and then back to the Main screen only. - UI errors appear if you use obsolete effects with Premiere Pro using Dark mode on macOS. For more information, see UI errors when using obsolete effects in Premiere Pro on macOS Dark Mode.
- Copying Motion Graphics Templates to Creative Cloud Libraries from the Essential Graphics panel fails if there are no video thumbnails present.
